LYME Regis Sailing Club won a hat-trick of trophies in a successful regatta at Sutton Bingham.
Nine dinghies from Lyme travelled to to compete for the Banbury Chaser Cup and Youth Trophy, included seven youth sailors who met unfamiliar conditions on the lake, but gave the adults keen racing and achieved good placings in the three-race series.
Race Officer was Richard Frost, a former Commodore at Lyme, who set a windward-leeward course over the lake’s length, in the strong, shifty winds.
With no reaches or waves, the Albacores and double-handlers sailed by the more experienced Lyme competitors had a tough time to match their relative handicap rating.

The wind slackened a little for race two, blowing up again for race three.
By then, Tim Parsons, sailing a Mirror with his young daughter, had the measure of the conditions and the best start.
By then too, youth sailors Ferdy Leyshon, Josh Connelly and Elliot Sammons in their ILCAs came through.
Outstanding among the youth helms was Tom Rawlings, just 14, sailing his ILCA, winner of the Youth Cup.
Their efforts meant Lyme Regis clinched the Banbury Chaser Cup and the Dorset Triangle in addition to the Youth Cup.
Lyme results: 2. Graham Cook 2, 1 & 4 (ILCA 6); 3. Tom Rawlings 3, 3 & 1 (ILCA 4); 4. Tim and Isla Parsons 9, 4 & 3 (Mirror); 6. Allan and Chrissey Tyler 5, 5 & 8 (Albacore); Jerry Rook and Ben 10, 7 & 13 (Albacore); Ferdy Leyshon 6, 12 & 6 (ILCA 6); Josh Connelly N/A, 13 & 7 (ILCA 6); Elliot Sammons N/A, 15 & 9 (ILCA 4); Dave and Ed Stubbs 11, 14 & 14 (R/S 200).
