BRIDPORT have secured the services of coveted Weymouth striker Troy Walbridge for the 2021/22 season.
Walbridge has featured in two pre-season friendlies for Weymouth’s first team this summer.
He will remain eligible for the Terras’ under-23 side and celebrated his move to the Bees with two goals as a Bridport XI beat Balti Sports 3-2.
For Bees’ boss Rob Marquis, Walbridge was one of his top recruitment targets.
“Troy was the signing I really wanted,” he told Echosport.
“I think he’s got a future ahead of him as well. He’s played a couple of pre-season friendlies for Weymouth and he’s been with me as an under-18 player for a couple of seasons.
“I know him well and he’s really progressing. Bridport could be a stepping stone for Troy, the lad’s got the potential to make a reasonable pay packet out of the game.
“He’s strong and knows where the goal is.”
Bridport next play a double header with Lyme Regis on Saturday.
