RACING returned to the Sir John Colfox Academy as Parrett and Axe dominated the West Dorset Primary Relay Races.
After an incredibly difficult 18 months for sport, nine schools from across West Dorset took part with over 80 children competing under Covid-19 protocols.
Parrett and Axe were the biggest winners of the day, walking away with two wins and one runner-up place to add to their futsal win the previous week.
In the Year 5 and 6 race, Parrett and Axe demonstrated their strength in depth with all three of their teams finishing in the top four overall positions.
Although Symondsbury A team finished fifth overall , they sealed second place and Bridport Primary A team took third.
Parrett and Axe B team took the B Team title with Bridport Primary in second place and Symondsbury in third.
In the year 3 and 4 race, Symondsbury took the A team title with Parrett and Axe and Bridport Primary in second and third respectively.
In the B team competition, Bridport Primary took first place with St Catherine’s in second and Sticklands in third.
Event organiser and departing Colfox teacher Andy David also paid a heartfelt goodbye following two decades of service.
He said: “It has been an absolute privilege to work at Colfox for two decades.
“I would like to thank the sports team at the Bridport News that have given us such incredible support over the years. The coverage we have been given as a school has been nothing short of phenomenal.
“I would also like to thank the students and parents for all their support over the past 20 years.
“I am incredibly lucky to have worked at such a great school that recognised the importance of running and I will cherish my memories forever.”
