RYAN Smith was selected for English Schools this year after more impressive displays with the discus in 2013.
He broke the Dorchester Club record in the summer and has steadily improved over the last 12 months.
And at the Last Ditch Throw Meet in Newquay, the final event on the athletics calendar, he threw an astonishing 48.11m.
That broke his own club record by nearly three metres and sees him finish the season ranked seventh in the country.
Bridport Leisure Centre has shown their support for aspiring young athletes by allowing Smith to use the gym facilities for his training.
“I would like to thank Nick Neale for giving me the opportunity to train at the gym,” he said. “Without the use of the leisure centre I would never have made the progress that I have this year.”
