BRIDPORT Gig Club’s Grand Summer Draw, staged to raise money towards the refit of the decommissioned toilets on West Bay’s Fisherman’s Green to provide a new boat house, has been drawn.

The draw was officiated over by Reverend Phillip Ringer and club secretary Jan Thorne.

The funds raised will be used to fit out and equip the converted building acquired by Bridport Town Council from WDDC to provide an amenity for water sport users in West Bay.

The building, which is to be completed this year, will provide a valuable facility to be shared bet-ween Bridport Gig Row-ing Club and the Canoe Club.

The club wishes to extend thanks to all who purchased a ticket in support of this community project and to the generous local sponsors who provided the prizes: Parkdean Holidays, Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, The Hive Beach Café, Clipper Teas, The Ellipse, Denhay Farms, Bridport Leisure Centre, The Greyhound (Wetherspoons) Bridport, Abbotsbury Swannery, Bath Rugby Club, Grieg & Allen, The Clockhouse Chideock, Beach & Barnicott.

The club offers members the opportunity to experience sea rowing throughout the year and represents Bridport competitively in local Jur-assic League events as well as throughout the South West and in the Scillies where the World Pilot Gig Championships are held each year.
