Millions of pensioners across the UK are set to receive a one-time payment of £300 to help cover the soaring cost of living crisis this winter.
The uplift will benefit 8 million pensioner households who are receiving the Winter Fuel Payment and will be paid on top of any other one-off payment recipients are entitled to.
For example, those on pension credit and disability benefits may receive this payment if they are also entitled to the £300 pensioner uplift.
Cost of living support
Some pensioner households could see the support they receive for winter fuel double to £600 this year.
Recently, the UK Government announced a raft of new measures aimed at alleviating the effects of the cost-of-living crisis on low-income households.

The benefit will be given to households as a top-up to their winter fuel support in November and December with most households receiving it through direct debit.
To be eligible, a person must be above the state pension age of 66 before September 19-25 and be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment.
How much has the energy cap increased?
Ofgem, Britain’s independent energy regulator which sets the price cap on consumer energy, said previously that the cap on what can be charged to average households will rise to £3,549 per year as of October 1.
This would represent an 80% rise in the cost of household fuel and force many into poverty.
Recent plans proposed by the Prime Minister, Liz Truss, would mean a price cap rise to £2,500 for the typical household a year.
