CONGER cuddling in Lyme Regis has been cancelled.
The event planned for tonight - Wedsnesday August 1 - has had to be called off after concerns from the authorities over public safety issues.
The “sport” was to be a highlight of the LymeLympics - a series of wacky seafront games.
A conger eel - frozen and thawed out for the occasion - was to be used in a giant version of bar skittles, with humans as the targets.
The other games, including “mermaid” races, a sea steeplechase and nettle-eating sprint, will go ahead as planned from 5pm.
