THE Hub at Lyme Regis has won the public phone vote to secure £60,000 funding.
There were scenes of jubilation at the Woodroffe School today as the news was announced.
The Hub beat Portland Gig Rowing Club in the vote after appearing on ITV’s West Country news last night.
The money will help refurbish the former Boys Club in Church Street and get it re-opened as a youth centre as soon as possible.
It follows weeks of campaigning, including a record-breaking singathon on the Cobb, YouTube videos, and appeals on social networking sites.
Project organisers were on tenterhooks all morning waiting for the result, and a film crew captured the youngsters as the news came in.
Watch it tonight at 6pm on ITV news.
