MOTORISTS in Dorset who park more than 50cm from the kerb face action by traffic wardens.
They could be punished under new enforcement powers just adopted by Dorset County Council under the Traffic Management Act 2004.
Civil enforcement officers (CEOs) will be able to deal with inconsiderate parking, such as double parking or parking 50cm from the kerb, which causes congestion and safety problems.
Other areas of parking enforcement covered include serving fines notices by post and parking at drop kerbs.
However, residents will still be able to park their own or their visitors’ vehicles outside their house.
The county council says it will take a sensitive approach to the enforcement of double parking and parking at dropped kerbs.
