A REPLICA of a traditional Dorset fishing vessel was launched from Lyme Regis at the weekend.
The newly-built lerret Littlesea, built by local boatbuilder Gail McGarva, and her mother boat Vera, built in 1923, were launched from the shingle beach last Sunday.
Sue Beckers sang a sea shanty before a big crowd as the vessels set off for the Cobb, where there was an exhibition on these historic craft.
Littlesea, Vera and the exhibition now leave on a tour of the Jurassic Coast, as well as Eton College and the Beal Park Wooden Boat Show on the Thames, returning to Lyme in September, sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
