UPLYME Football Club is paying tribute to the memory of one of their most loyal supporters and at the same time hope to help a young cancer sufferer in the village.

Ron Matthews passed away in January and club chairman Gavin Fowler said: “Ron was always there, no matter what the weather – so the club wanted to dedicated a bench in his memory. When the boys heard of Sam Nunn’s plight they were only too happy to help too.

“We feel Ron would be more than happy to think his memorial game was helping a young local cancer patient.”

Kick off is at 3pm this Saturday at Venlake Meadow and there will be a raffle and collection.
