There have been crashes on the A35 this morning and some parts are impassable due to snow. 

A crash has taken place at Raymonds Hill, on the Dorset/Devon border, and the A35 is closed in both directions as a result. There are lengthy queues of traffic between the B3165 Scotts Lane (Harcombe) to Trinity Hill Road (Wyke) due to the crash.

Thick snow made hilly areas such as Askerswell treacherous this morning, and the road has since been closed.

The A35 is impassable due to snow between Bridport and Dorchester and the road has been closed between the A37 (Monkeys Jump Roundabout, Poundbury) and Shipton Road (Walditch).

Coming off the A35 at Charmouth, the road is impassable due to snow on the  A3052 in both directions from the Charmouth roundabout to Colway Lane at Lyme Regis.

Areas have been described as 'gridlocked' as cars struggle to get through the snow. 

Elsewhere, the coast road is thick with snow and it has been closed at Portesham due to a crash.

The road has been declared 'impassable' between Abbotsbury and Swyre due to the snow., but other areas are also difficult to drive through.
