Roadworks are causing lengthy tailbacks for motorists in west Dorset.
There have been reports of ‘huge queues’ through West Allington and along West Road in Bridport as a result of a four-way temporary traffic light system which has been put in place at roundabout near the White Lion pub.
The traffic measures have been put up to allow Total Utility Connections to safely carry out ‘utility asset works.’
The roadworks have been scheduled to last a fortnight, with an end date set as Friday, November 29.
Motorists are being asked to use an alternative route where possible, especially to and from North Allington.
At lunchtime today, traffic heading towards Bridport town centre from the direction of West Allington was at a standstill from the roundabout to the medical centre.
To help reduce delays, the traffic lights will be manned between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
