Buses are still running instead of trains between Exeter St David and Axminster.

South Western Railway is running the buses due to a track closure between the two stations for planned engineering work.

The main work is replacing a mile of track at Honiton Tunnel, which involves installing new rails, sleepers and ballast.

The existing track is over 50 years old and prone to faults that can cause disruption and delays. The brand-new track will make for smoother, more comfortable and reliable journeys, Network Rail has said.

Routine maintenance will also take place on level crossings between Feniton and Cranbrook, and improvements to drainage along the track will also be made.

The work began on November 9, and will remain in place until Friday, November 22.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "For 14 days buses will replace trains as we carry out engineering work on the West of England line.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience."
