Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing part filmed in Dorset

Episode eight of this season’s Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, was filmed on the River Frome and at Chesil Beach in West Bexington – two popular fishing spots.

During the episode, comedians Paul Mortimer and Bob Whitehouse travel to Dorset with Ted the dog to fish the River Frome in a hunt for grayling, before setting their sights on mackerel.

They find a stretch of river known for setting a British fishing record – so hopes are high that they could catch something big.

In between the fishing they sit down by the river and chat about all manner of topics, from party tricks and favourite biscuits to the symptoms of irritable male syndrome.

During their travels, Bob chose The Short House in West Bexington as their accommodation for the night.

Shorthouse is a small cottage near Chesil Beach, which is a good spot for mackerel fishing.

Andrew Wadsworth, owner of the holiday let that the duo stayed in explained that the BBC phoned him up and asked if it would be okay to film.

He said: “It’s fantastic publicity for the area. I’m sure that there is a large amount of people that won’t know this area until they see Mortimer and Whitehouse walk down to the beach in the show.”

The show, which is now in its seventh series, features the two comedians who are also are lifelong friends as they embark on fishing adventures across the UK and share their personal and hilarious experiences of life in some of the most picturesque landscapes the country has to offer.

In series one, episode five, Paul fished at Bridge Pool near Christchurch solo, before being met by Bob later.
