The engine compartment of a car caught fire this morning.
A fire crew from Charmouth was called to the blaze on Fern Hill just before 7am.
The four-by-four was well alight by the time they arrived, and the fire was extinguished shortly after.
A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 6.52am today (5 November) to Fern Hill, Charmouth to reports of a vehicle fire.
"One crew from Charmouth attended where one breathing apparatus wearer used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, located in the engine compartment."
The stop message, meaning that the situation is under control and no further resources are needed, was given at 7.20am.
