Police officers have raided a property in Bridport arresting three people for drug related offences.

Officers were executing a warrant at an address in Bridport town centre as they continue to take action on reported drug related activity in the town.

The West Dorset and Purbeck Neighbourhood Policing Teams were joined by a team from the Force Support Group as they conducted a warrant under section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act earlier today (October 24)

At the address they located suspected class A and class B drugs, as well as cash and mobile devices which were seized.

Three people were arrested at the scene. A woman aged in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug. She was subsequently de-arrested and is now assisting officers with their enquiries.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class B drug and he was dealt with by way of a community resolution, requiring him to engage with drug support services.

A third man, aged in his 30s, located at the address was found to be wanted in connection with a breach of a court order. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Neighbourhood sergeant Mike Brown said: “We remain committed to listening to our communities and responded to reports of suspected drug related activity.

“Under Op Viper, Dorset Police will relentlessly pursue those linked to the reported possession and supply of illegal drugs and ensure positive action is taken to disrupt the activities of those involved.

“We would continue to urge members of the public to report any suspected drug related activity to us, as their information helps build an intelligence picture and enables us to respond as required.”

This latest comes weeks after three raids were carried out as part of Operation Scorpion 9, a south west based policing initiative which sees police forces work together to tackle drug supply and related criminal activity.

Operation Scorpion 9 ran between Monday, September 30 and Sunday, October 6 and during this time, officers carried out intelligence-led vehicle stops, search warrants at properties suspected of drug activity, high-visibility patrols in areas known for drug crime and community engagement events to educate the public about the risks of drug-related crime.

In Dorset there were 21 arrests, four vehicles seized and a number of weapons seized, including a hunting knife and a knuckle duster, additionally 15 safeguarding visits to vulnerable people were also carried out.
