Train services running between Exeter St David and Salisbury are delayed due to 'poor railhead' conditions.
There are delays of around 15 minutes along the South Western Railway route which goes through Axminster and Sherborne.
Due to the poor condition of the railheads, trains are running at a reduced speed along the line.
South Western Railway expects the problem to be resolved around midday.
A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "We have been informed of poor railhead conditions between Salisbury and Exeter St Davids. This means that trains are running at a reduced speed on all lines between these stations.
"Between Salisbury and Exeter, there are sections of the track which are only single line, which means that only one train at a time can be on this section of track at one time.
"Because of the delays experienced, this may mean that other trains maybe delayed as they await permission.
"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
No ticket replacements have been issued for local buses.
