A couple whose home was shot at waited two days before armed police came to check on them.
A double-glazed window in the conservatory was shattered before it got lodged between two panes of glass.
Mr Gregory, 84, was sat in his usual chair in the conservatory 'directly in the line of fire' and fears he would have been struck if the bullet had travelled any further.
When they first spoke with the News, the couple raised concerns police still hadn't visited them after the ordeal.
Mrs Gregory has since confirmed that officers checked on their welfare on Sunday morning.
Mrs Gregory, 83, said: “Two armed police officers came and they could not apologise enough for not coming sooner, and said that shouldn’t have happened.
“We got the ball out with a magnet, and we were told not to touch it and put it straight into an envelope.
“Officers from Bridport Police are due to come around today or tomorrow to take a statement and collect the ball.
"This kind of thing could happen to anyone - so always make sure the police come to visit afterwards because the local community expect better.”
Dorset Police has released further information about the incident, including details about what was fired at the couple's home.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Dorset Police received a report at 4.38pm on Friday that a window had been shot at by a ball bearing in Wanderwell in Bridport.
“There were no injuries reported and it was not believed to be a targeted incident.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team (NPT) were made aware and, as there was no immediate threat, risk or harm, contact was to be made with the victims to carry out enquiries and provide reassurance.
“Further information was received on Saturday that the damage may have been caused by a shotgun and armed officers attended to carry out enquiries at the scene. It was established that the damage was caused by a marble or a ball bearing.
“The neighbourhood policing team can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
