A WOMAN was found with 20 wraps of class A drugs in her flat, a court heard.

Mia Page Pennick, aged 21, of Gundry Lane in Bridport, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court, where she pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a controlled drug of class A - one for heroin and the other for cocaine.

The charges relate to an incident which happened on October 1, 2024.

Elizabeth Valera, prosecuting, told the court that police executed a drugs warrant at Pennick's address.

After forcing entry, they found 20 wraps of class A drugs in various locations including dressing and bedside tables.

When a test revealed these were cocaine and heroin, Pennick was arrested, the court heard.

A wrap of drugs is a piece of paper or tissue that is used to roll or fold powdered or crushed drugs together for ingestion.

Drug paraphernalia was also found at the flat.

The defendant stated that all the drugs belonged to her boyfriend.

While she admitted to being addicted to cocaine, she said she was only tried heroin once, didn't like it and never did it again since, magistrates were told.

Pennick added that the heroin has since remained in her flat as she didn't know how to get rid of it.

The court heard that Pennick has 62 previous convictions with a large number of them being assaults.

Ian Brazier, mitigating, said Pennick wants help with her drug addiction and has been struggling in 'various aspects of her life'.

He explained how she has to manage her addiction while also caring for her ill mother, looking after her younger sister and doing the school runs.

Pennick was remanded on unconditional bail and until a sentencing hearing at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 16 at 10am.

The police raid was carried out as part of 'Operation Scorpion 9,' a south west based policing initiative which ran between September 30 and Sunday, October 6.

Officers carried out intelligence-led vehicle stops, search warrants at properties suspected of drug activity and high-visibility patrols in areas known for drug crime.

In Dorset there were 21 arrests, four vehicles seized and a number of weapons seized, including a hunting knife and a knuckle duster, additionally 15 safeguarding visits to vulnerable people were also carried out.
