Runners of all abilities are invited to take on one of west Dorset's prettiest beauty spots - in Halloween fancy dress.

On the fourth Sunday of the month, the National Trust in Dorset hosts a free 10k run over Golden Cap, taking you across some fabulous landscape and scenery.

To celebrate the last run of the year, the tea, is inviting anyone who want to join the fun to run in fancy dress.

Trust 10 says running is 'all about the experience of running at National Trust places which are full of nature, beauty, and history.'

They aren’t competitive, although they can be challenging. The aim is to encourage people to be outside, enjoy the benefits that come from exercising and enjoying time in nature.

Elizabeth Flight, partnership and programming officer for the National Trust in West Dorset, said: “We organise the Trust 10k run over Golden Cap once a month between April and October. To celebrate the last run of 2024, we want to invite people to come in fancy dress – Halloween is the theme but people are welcome to wear anything they like.”

If you don’t fancy the 10k run, you can always shorten it and just do 5k which also avoids the climb up Golden Cap. The route is circular and is waymarked with pink arrowed discs and flags, but marshals help guide the way too.

Those hoping to attend on October 27, at 8.50am, can park at Stonebarrow car park, and the start of the race is by the Old Radar Station.

If you love running and think you would like to help out as a volunteer the team would welcome support in 2025 – marshals and back runners are needed to make the free event a success.
