A FAMOUS face will switch on a Christmas lights display at Bridport's most festive home for one final time this year.

Once again, Doc Martin star Martin Clunes will head to 2 White Close in Bradpole at 6pm on Friday, November 29.

The owners of the house, Monica and Rob Teague, put on a spectacular lit up display every year, in order to raise money for charity.

Money raised will go to Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, of which Mr Clunes is a patron.

The displays have become one of the highlights of the festive season in the area, but the couple has announced this year will be their last.

Having initially planned to make 2023 the last event, they decided to return for one more year to help the hospice which Rob said is in "desperate need of donations".

Monica said: "We still have all of the lights and if we can do it for one more year we can help raise some money.

"There are people who are coming to help Rob put the display up.

"He is about to turn 75 and it is getting too much for him to do.

"But we will be there with Martin Clunes and Father Christmas will make an appearance with gifts for all of the children."

The festive display will be open to the public, however, food and drink will not be available this year.

Monica added: "We have decided that we cannot do refreshments this year.

"I have a few health problems and I just cannot do the catering.

"We will probably put a few lights out next year for our own amusement but it won't be a big event.

"This is our last hurrah.

"Bridport Building Supplies are sponsoring our energy so it won't cost us a penny and then all of the money raised can go to Julia's House."

Rob said: "All of the hospices are desperate for money at the moment so we have decided to try and help.

"Groves Nurseries are also donating a large Christmas Tree with thousands of lights and children will be able to press a button and light it up."
