An Indian restaurant in Bridport is among the winners of a prestigious award, making it one of the top 10% rated restaurants globally.

The Sundorbon, in South Street, has won a TripAdvisor's Travellers’ Choice Award for 2024. 

The achievement honours businesses that consistently earn great reviews, placing them among the top 10% of listings around the world on the global online travel guidance platform Tripadvisor.

It boasts a four and a half star rating on Tripadvisor.

The Sundorbon also won in the Best Restaurant category at the Curry Life Awards 2023.

Mr Ahmed left his previous job in finance to take over the business in 2019.

These include classic curries, such as baltis, masalas and Tandooris, and speciality dishes made with fresh ingredients delivered several times a week.

The Sundorbon allows guests to dine-in its restaurant and also offers a popular home delivery service. 

The business is now planning to open a new takeaway outlet in Dorchester, taking over 5 Trinity Street which used to be home to the Golden Lotus Chinese takeaway before it closed in 2022.

Extensive refurbishment work is nearing completion with an opening date to be confirmed at a later date.
