The body of a man has been found in a west Dorset river.

As reported, police, paramedics and a coastguard team rushed to Roman Road in Lyme Regis at around 9.20am today. 

Police received a report at that a man had been found unresponsive in the water at the River Lim by Horn Bridge in the area of Colway Lane in Lyme Regis. 

After recovering the body of a man, aged in his 60s, from the water, he was sadly pronounced dead on the scene. 

The death is not being treated as suspicious. 

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 9.24am on Thursday, October 3 that a man had been found unresponsive in the water at the River Lim by Horn Bridge in the area of Colway Lane in Lyme Regis.

"Emergency services attended and the man was recovered from the water.

"Very sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious. The family of the man – a local man aged in his 60s – have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

"Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time."
