A POPULAR Netflix drama which was part-filmed in west Dorset has been released.

Heartstopper series three is now available to watch on the streaming service.

Beaches in Lyme Regis are visible in the background of the newly-released trailer for the coming-of-age drama.

Film crews took to Lyme in October of last year to shoot the scenes.

Characters from the show can be seen in the trailer eating fish and chips with the town's iconic Cobb in the background.

In another scene, they are enjoying a beach day in Lyme Regis.

Radio Times writes: "These latest episodes do feel like an evolution of the concept as the cutesy drama wades into deeper waters with its discussions of eating disorders and early sexual experiences."

Production crews were spotted at both Monmouth and Sandy beaches in the resort, with filming equipment seen dotted along the beach.

Filming also took place in Broad Street, on the South West Coast Path and in Langmoor and Lister Gardens.

Heartstopper stars Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Stephen Fry and Olivia Colman.

It follows the story of Charlie Spring (Locke), a gay schoolboy who falls in love with classmate Nick Nelson (Connor), whom he sits next to in his new form. It is based on Alice Oseman's successful LGBTQ+ webcomics for young adults.

This series will see the group of friends preparing for the beginning of their sixth form studies as well as outlining their ambitions for the future.

Following a day at the beach, the trailer teases that the friendship group will become fractured over the course of the year, whilst Nick’s relationship with Charlie (Joe Locke) is tested due to the latter’s personal demons.

Lyme businesses received a boost from the internationally popular teen dram being filmed in the resort last year.
