A NEW chalet bungalow on the site of the Eeles Pottery at Mosterton with a second home from a converted barn has been refused planning consent.
The application to Dorset Council asked for the demolition of an existing showroom and workshop for the pottery business which no longer operates from the Shepherds Well site.
A planning case officer decided that although the development was acceptable in principle the application needed an acceptable flood risk assessment to demonstrate the use would be safe from a 1 in 30 year surface water flood risk.
Said the report, recommending refusal: “Although the site is located in a position where new residential development would be acceptable in principle, the design of the proposal is acceptable and the impacts on residential amenity are capable of being appropriately mitigated, the proposal has been assessed as being in conflict with development plan policies with regards to flood risk and impacts on habitats sites.”
Details of the application can be seen in full on the Dorset Council website, along with other, recent decided, applications from the West Dorset area.
