A lorry that got stuck on a rural road is continuing to block the route in west Dorset.
Dorset Police were liaising with the lorry driver following the incident.
The road remains blocked, with the lorry still in place. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said that officers left the scene yesterday at 7.30pm, and added that the local authority, Dorset Council, has been dealing with the incident and that it is hoped that the vehicle will be moved today (Wednesday, October 2).
A recovery vehicle was seen at the site from 2pm today (Wednesday. October 2), to take the vehicle away.
Paul Thomas, a motorist from Shipton Gorge, was trying to use Lee Lane.
He said: “Community police had just responded and were trying to help the driver get the lorry out. It was pretty obvious that it was going to be difficult.
“We went back to the scene an hour later and the driver was still trying to manoeuvre back, but finally gave up.
“The police said to me that they had tried local farmers to assist, but no one could do anything.
“The driver had been trying to contact his company, at that point without luck, and he told us that his satnav had guided him down the wrong route. There are size and weight restriction signs at the top of the lane however.
“We went there about 9am today and the road has hard blocks top and bottom and there was no one on the scene. The lorry is in the same place.”
A spokesperson for Dorset Police added: "Lee Lane remains closed while the company for the foreign artic lorry arrange recovery to assist with manoeuvring the trailer around the bends in the lane, while making its way back up to Jessopp Avenue.
"Officers from the Bridport Neighbourhood Policing Team were made aware of the vehicle that had become stuck in the lane at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon and put road closures either end while trying to organise recovery.
"It is hoped that the vehicle will be recovered by mid afternoon today (Wednesday, October 2)."
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said: "The police requested a closure from us for Lee Lane, but we have not been asked to provide any other assistance."
At 5.45pm, police confirmed that the lorry has been recovered and Lee Lane in Bridport is clear.
A spokesperson for Bridport Police said: "Thank you for your patience and cooperation."
