A riverside walkway which collapsed after a bout of heavy rain is closed while repairs are undertaken.
The walkway between Woodmead Road bridge and Jordan Flats, Lyme Regis, was significantly eroded during last Sunday's downpour.
Around a metre of the path was lost and the walkway was undermined by a further half a metre, making it very dangerous for pedestrians, according to Lyme Regis Town Council.
Another section of the path next to the affected area has a significant crack and could also collapse.
The walkway has been closed by Dorset Council, but people are continuing to try and use it by moving barriers and 'footpath closed' signs, said the town council.
It will be closed for 21 days, starting from 30 September, from Hatchett to Jordan Flats while Dorset Council carry out temporary repairs, which should take around five days to complete.
The work is due to start today and should be completed by the end of the week.
The diversion while the path is closed is along Anning Road, then down the pathway to Jordan Flats.
Engineers from Dorset Council are designing a more permanent fix but works are not likely to take place until summer 2025.
