PLANS have been submitted to build a pet cremator on a farmland site.
Dorset Council is being asked to approve the application for Underhill Farm, Corscombe.
The proposed cremator, which is the actual device used for cremation, also includes the installation of solar panels on the roof of a barn.
Papers with the application suggest that the building, of 22 square metres, will need one full-time staff member to operate the cremator, taking in up to eight pets a day.
It will be sited to the south of an existing pet mortuary with a flu with an overall height of 3.6metres above ground. The site already offers pet burials.
Access to the site will be from the farm access track which joins the public highway on Hackney Lane leading on to the A356 Dorchester to Crewkerne road.
Public comments on the application remain open until October 11th.
