A major crash involving a car and lorry this morning caused major delays into the afternoon.
The crash happened at around 10.30am on the A35 near the turning for Eype.
A lorry could be seen rolled over by the side of the road.
Police, fire, ambulance and the air ambulance were all called to the scene.
Dorset Police say there are no reports of any serious injuries.
The A35 eastbound was closed for hours between the A3052 and the junction with the A3066. This was so that the lorry and car could be recovered.
This traffic this caused tailed back for miles, as far as Morcombelake.
Traffic was also diverted through Bridport via West Road, meaning the town centre was much busier than usual.
The road has now re-opened and traffic has returned to normal.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "The A35 has reopened following an earlier road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry at Higher Eype near Bridport.
"We would like to thank the public for their patience while the closures were in place. "
A spokesperson for the Charmouth Fire Station said: "We were mobilised at 10.30am to a road traffic collision on the A35 at Bridport along with Bridport Fire Station involving an HGV and a car.
"The HGV had rolled onto its side and the car had damage to its rear quarter. Both drivers were shaken but not badly injured.
"The air ambulance was called for as a precaution, as well as road ambulances and the police.
"Large amounts of smoke were coming from the HGV but this was caused by the refrigeration unit, not fire.
"The scene was handed over to the police and crews returned to the station at 12.30pm."
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "Initial reports came in that the driver of the HGV was trapped in their cab.
"South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust mobilised a doctor, land ambulances and air ambulance to the scene.
"Once on scene, it was discovered that the driver of the HGV had self-extricated from the cab and that a further small passenger vehicle was also involved.
"Both drivers were checked over and no serious injuries were reported.
"Crews ensured the scene was safe and handed the incident over to police."
