People are flocking to a newly opened west Dorset café.

The Chesil Beach Café at Abbotsbury Beach has received a warm welcome from locals and tourists alike.

It is a ‘dream come true’ for Sally Allan from Abbotsbury to run her very own café.

Mrs Allan, 50, took over the café around three months ago with help from her daughter Molly and a good friend.

She said: “Business is going very well; we had a really good summer – It was even better than expected.

“I have received a lot of support from locals, and we have also had lots of tourists visit who come from all over including Yorkshire, Scotland and Wales.

“It’s just been a massive dream of mine – I have always wanted this. I just thought if I don’t do it, then I will never know what would’ve happened, so I am going to keep giving it my best shot and keep it fun.”

The café owner wants the venue to be a ‘destination place to visit and have a good lunch or breakfast.’

Some of the menu favourites include classics like crab sandwiches, fish finger butties, as well as homemade cakes and pastries from Rise Bakery, and ‘great coffee.’

She added: “It’s very busy with the fishermen and we are one of the very few access points to Chesil Beach – It’s a very popular location.

“I am hoping to stay open during the winter, there will also be a change in the menu.”

Despite plans to open throughout the winter, the businesswoman is ‘a bit nervous’ about the low season ‘just like everyone, but she has plans on how she is going to overcome it.’

Mrs Allan has lived in Abbotsbury with her husband and two children for 12 years now, revealing that she ‘loves living in the village.’

She also owns Sally’s Fish Camp, a seafood pop-up and masterclass which began back in 2017.

The Chesil Beach Café is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
