Opportunities to get involved, make a difference and contribute to the community are being offered by a Bridport charity.

The Literary and Scientific Institute is a vibrant town centre hub providing cultural, social and educational resources.

An imposing Georgian grade II listed building, the LSi was rescued, renovated and repurposed by the Bridport Area Development Trust (BADT).

As the project develops, BADT is looking to recruit trustees experienced in finance or buildings maintenance to join its management team.

In the buildings role, over and above maintenance expertise, the trust needs someone with hands-on practical knowledge of operational systems, procedural documentation, compiling reports, structural and technical issues and repairs, engaging contractors, and liaising with tenants and the property management agent.

The finance trustee will understand accountancy and general finance and be familiar with spreadsheets, strategic planning, online banking and small/medium sized organisations.

A spokesperson for BADT said: “The LSi is an innovative charitable and commercial partnership involving a leading high-tech crowdfunding business.

“As we enter a new phase we are looking for people with the skills to help carry our groundbreaking venture forward.

“The ideal candidates will be public-spirited and enthusiastic about giving something back to the community – happy to roll up their sleeves when needed.”

For a job description and a trustee recruitment pack contact Bridport Area Development Trust at mail@bridportadt.org.uk, attaching a CV and a covering letter.

Candidates who would prefer a preliminary chat can send their phone number and the trust will get in touch.
