A man has appeared in court to deny carrying an offensive weapon and causing damage and assaulting someone in Beaminster.

Jon Robinson, of Flaxfield Road in the town, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 4.

The 36-year-old was charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The charges refer to an alleged incident on February 16, on Gerrards Green in Beaminster, where Robinson is accused of damaging a car and a garden fence.

It is also said that he had a lanyard with a ball attached which was adapted for use as an offensive weapon.

Robinson pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was represented by Kenny Sharpe. Elizabeth Valera was prosecuting.

The case was adjourned for a trial at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on January 10 next year.

Robinson was released on conditional bail, with conditions not to enter Beaminster and not to contact the victim and witnesses in the case.
