The wonders of nature will be explored through dance, music and puppetry at a picturesque spot in west Dorset.

Bridport Youth Dance is returning with its popular outdoor show Choreography Geography - a 'site specific performance' at Chapel Hill in Abbotsbury.

Performances will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 6 and 7 at 5.45pm, aligning with the setting of the sun.

The show celebrates young dancers including BYD alumni Louis Donovan, Amber Palfreyman, Robyn Moss and Charlie Green.

They will be preforming together with Fingerprint dance - a local adult dance company (otherwise known as Grace and Growl).

Choreography Geography made its debut in 2022 to critical praise where it was set against the backdrop of Eggardon Hill.

The show returned the following year at the new location of Chapel Hill and was described as a "deeply moving" show.

This year's show both draws on local traditions and crafts of a by gone age (rope making, weaving and net making) while also telling the true story of a young 12th century couple shipwrecked on the Jurassic coast.

Choreograph Geography is directed and produced by Nikki Northover and is a part of BYD's ART and DANCE in the LANDscape initiative.

It has been supported by Dorset Community Foundation, Dorset National Landscape, Bridport Town Council, Groves Nurseries, Battens solicitors charitable Trust, Bridport Town of Culture and Carpetworld.

Audiences should note the performance will involve a walk so they should wear suitable footwear as the route is very uneven.

The meeting point for the audience is at the bottom of Chapel Hill (off Chapel Lane) and parking is at Rodden Row car park.

Tickets are available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre. Box office: 01308 424901.
