AN unusual dual-purpose is being proposed for a former Bridport industrial unit – florist’s studio during the day and small restaurant in the evenings.
A drinks licence for the venture, at Unit 101 on St Michael’s Trading Estate, is currently being applied for and is open for public comment until September 4.
Constance Booth, who is behind the proposal, says that, initially, it is only planned to open the artisanal restaurant/bar on Friday evenings, but she has asked for a 7-day licence finishing at either 11pm or midnight, to give flexibility.
The main bar and restaurant area is open plan, with an open plan kitchen to the rear, while immediately outside the premises will be a handful of small tables, chairs and plant pots, with the nearest residential property more than 300 feet away.
The building is immediately behind the town’s police station.
