The pursuit of new, unusual, and oftentimes brilliant beer is what The Pursuit of Hoppiness in Bridport is all about.
This bar on West Street has been bringing beer from far and wide to the town centre for more than half a decade.
What makes this tiny but lovable bar special is that you can expect a new selection of brews every single week.
Only two of its beers on tap remain the same, all the rest change. There is also a 'Fridge of Dreams', the canned selection where you can find the truly unusual pints.
Manager Harrison Yarnold said: "Our selling point is a constantly rotating selection of beers.
"Most pubs in Bridport are tenant pubs. So when you go in, you normally get the same permanent selection of beers.
"We flip that on its head, we only have two permanent beers, and the rest rotates.
"That's its beauty, that it's constantly changing, and that keeps it interesting for the staff as much as the guests.
"The Pursuit of Hoppiness is not just a name, it is the ethos. It is very Bridport, it is tiny but lovable. The main thing though is the beer, that's what the whole place is about."
The building itself is Grade II listed and was once a tobacco shop.
One of its only permanent beers is a bitter that has been named after a regular - 'Brian's Bitter'.
It features 25 indoor seats - though more standing space - and 36 outdoor seats.
"Outside seating is a blessing for us. We are known for being popular, and when we are full people are more than happy to stand, that's just how good we are," added Harrison.
"We get stuff from all over the place as well as nearby. It's nice to get local but when you restrict yourself you miss out on a lot from elsewhere.
"So it is a bit of both, which works well when you constantly rotate it.
"I have to keep my ear to the ground of what is going on in the world of beer."
The bar comes under the same company as The Pursuit of Poppiness in Dorchester, which focuses on wine.
The Pursuit of Hoppiness is open seven days a week, from noon until 11pm.
