A newlywed couple have told how a Bridport business saved their big day after they were jilted by their original caterers.
Chicken Land and Pizza on West Street came to Antony and Elizabeth Hutchinson's rescue, supplying more than 30 to 40 'piping hot' pizzas for wedding guests.
The Weymouth couple had planned to tie the knot at Eype Centre for the Arts, after more than six years together.
Just two weeks before the big day, they were hit with a bombshell as their original caterers suddenly pulled out.
Mrs Hutchinson said: "We decided in the evening there would be a pizza buffet.
"This had all been decided and arranged in advanced. Two weeks before the big day we were told to come to the company in person to choose the toppings we wanted and pay the money.
“We met with the manager but he just shrugged and said 'catering for a wedding is hard' and he didn’t want to do it."
The couple were left frantically searching for a catering company who could help them last minute when they came across Bridport firm Chicken Land and Pizza.
After sampling one of their cheesy offerings, they rushed to acquire them for the big day, hailing their pizzas as 'one of the best they had in ages.'
Mrs Hutchinson praised the business for their 'outstanding' service in going 'above and beyond' to make sure the day came together without a hitch.
She said: “They saved the day. Every five minutes a car arrived with the next load, delivering five or six at a time. It was perfect. They were always piping hot.
“They did every type of pizza you could imagine. They even did a custom made one for my daughter which was just a giant garlic bread with cheese.
"Nothing was too much. We couldn’t have asked for better.”
Despite the bumps along the road, the couple have said the whole day was a "magical" affair.
Mrs Hutchinson added: "Despite all the things that went wrong leading up to it, everything came together. It was the most perfect day.
“It was over 17 months of planning but we have been together for six years. We started out as friends but we became more over time.
"He was a teacher during Covid and I had to shield so we spent all of that time apart desperate to see one another.
"After that we decided we never wanted to be apart again and wanted to tie the knot. ”
