People wishing to go out and enjoy the bank holiday weekend may be put off by wet weather.

According to the Met Office, Saturday (August 24) will start with a bout of heavy rain across Dorset, which will clear up during the day. Sunday and Monday are forecast to be dry with sunny intervals.

Some events have been cancelled due to the forecast, including the Sunflower Day along Dorchester’s South Street which was planned for Saturday, August 24.

Events taking place on the Sunday (August 25) and Monday (August 26) such as the Dog Sausage and Cider Festival and Anonymous Festival are still planned to go ahead.

A spokesperson for the Met Office, said: "It will be cool and breezy throughout the bank holiday weekend with sunnier spells poking through variable cloud amounts. Turning a little warmer on Tuesday but with patchy rain possible."
