Residents are being alerted to a suspected 'rogue trader' offering to carry out home repairs in the Bridport area.
A man was seen walking on a driveway to someone's property yesterday morning, Thursday August 15. When challenged, the man said the resident some tiles loose which had dropped in the gutter.
The resident said that someone was already going to sort it out and the man subsequently left in a brown coloured van with no signwriting.
Bridport Police has subsequently issued a warning on Facebook warning residents to be vigilant of rogue traders.
A spokesperson said: "Please be aware of anyone going door to door offering services, as this can often lead to rogue trading, where the traders will often hike or quote prices that are unreasonable, for work that is often unneeded.
"If you have anyone calling to offer work, you are free to take details and a quote, but never agree to the work until you have sought further quotes and advice from other reputable businesses."
If anyone comes to the door offering work that you do not want, you can call Dorset Police on 101. If they are aggressive or violent, or will not leave, call 999.
