A German-born comedian who has appeared on numerous TV panel shows will be performing in Bridport later this year.
Henning Wehn will be appearing at the Electric Palace in Bucky Doo Square as part of his Acid When tour.
The performance will see the comedy ambassador take an unbiased look at climate change and a favourite topic of British conversation, the weather.
It will take place on Thursday, October 24 with the performance starting at 7.30pm.
The comedian 'took office' in his ambassadorial role in October 2003 after watching an open mic night that left him convinced that he wouldn’t be all that much worse. Henning has been performing as the self-styled ‘German comedy ambassador’ ever since.
Born in Munster, western Germany, the 50-year-old star moved to the UK in 2002 where he worked within football club Wycombe Wanderers. During his visit, he performed at an open mic night and the rest is history.
His most recent television and radio appearances include BBC 1 panel show’s Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You, as well as a performance in Live At The Apollo on BBC2.
He has also made appearances on Comedy Central show, Guessable, as well as radio shows and the popular Channel 4 panel series 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown. In 2014, he and Mark Watson toured Brazil, exploring the country’s sporting culture in the lead up to that year’s world cup.
Sometimes Henning would appear with his countryman Otto Kuhnle. Their show ,1,000 Years of German Humour, was nominated for the Barry Award at the 2009 Melbourne Comedy Festival.
This is Henning’s ninth tour, with his last shows It’ll All Come Out In The Wash. He appeared at Weymouth Pavilion to perform this show where he highlighted problems with the Corona Virus.
Opinion on his stand-up is divided. Whilst Henning sees himself as one of Britain’s foremost social commentators, everybody else describes him as ‘that German bloke’.
Tickets for Henning’s performance at the palace are on sale from £27.50. Entrance is open to those aged 16 and over. Book online at electricpalace.org.uk or call the box office on 01308 424901.
