A WEST Dorset school has been told it can go ahead and fill in its swimming pool.

Beaminster Comprehensive had applied to demolish the pool and associated changing rooms and plant rooms – because of the cost of running and maintaining it.

Once removed the area will be covered with topsoil and seeded with grass to provide an open seating area.

Other planning decisions, locally, this week include the granting of permission to Groves Nurseries and Garden Centre to demolish an existing canopy and replace it with a new one, and for changes to the Bridport Women's Institute Hall in North Street.

Outside the town, on the Dorchester Road, the Traveller’s Rest site has been given consent to continue to use the site for the storage of caravans.
