A man has appeared in court charged with strangling and assaulting a woman in Lyme Regis.
Alban Audibert of South End in London appeared at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 7.
The 22-year-old was formally charged with criminal damage, intentional strangulation and assault by beating. He did not enter a plea.
The charge states that on March 29 on Broad Street in Lyme, he intentionally strangled a woman and assaulted her by beating her.
The charges also state that between March 28 and 31 on Lyme Road in Uplyme, Audibert damaged numerous items of clothing and property to the value of around £2,700 belonging to the alleged victim, intending to destroy or damage them.
The case was adjourned until a pre-trial and preparation hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, September 5.
Audibert was released on conditional bail, with conditions not to visit the property on Lyme Road in Uplyme and not to contact the alleged victim.
