Two people have been rushed to hospital following a crash on the A35.

The vehicle crashed into a hedge early this morning near to the Kingston Russell turn-off.

The driver and another person were taken to Dorset County Hospital via land ambulance.

Police were on the scene along with two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer.

Recovery for the vehicle is being arranged.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 5.34am on Tuesday,  August 6 to a report of a single vehicle collision on the A35 near to Kingston Russell.

"It is reported that the vehicle is in a hedge. Officers are in attendance with the ambulance service. Recovery is being arranged for the vehicle. The driver is being taken to hospital for treatment."

The incident was reportedly causing traffic chaos in the area this morning.

There were major delays in both directions, although it is understood that traffic has since returned to normal.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called to a road traffic collision near Dorchester.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed two patients by land ambulances to Dorset County Hospital.”
