West Bay will celebrate its rich history with a day packed full of fun activities for the whole family.
West Bay Day returns today - Sunday, August 4. Festivities will get under way at midday and run through to 11pm.
The day acts as a celebration for the town’s rich history, heritage, quality of food, local businesses, and will be incorporating an array of fun activities and entertainment for the whole family. This will include stalls and refreshments from the Harbourside Bar, and tea and cakes from the West Bay Days Café.
Live music from Nina Garcia, Mustang Sally and the Bridport Broadsides Shanty Group will be perfomed on the mound from 12pm and there will be a BBQ, as well as a firework display at 10pm.
This year, the event is supporting a series of causes, such as the Bridport U10s football team, Bridport Youth Kick Boxing and Bridport Men’s Wellness.
Steeped in tradition, the roots of the festival can be traced back to 1844, when it was known as the West Bay Regatta.
A spokesperson from organisers, West Bay Days, said: “The event will include great live music, Duck Race, Classic Cars and Bikes, model airplane display and model railway exhibition, pirate games and stalls.”
West Bay Days was formed in 2012, and are a group of volunteers dedicated to the future of the area. They organise other events popular in the town, such as Pirates Day and the Christmas Tree on Harbour Green.
