A person has been hit by a vehicle in Bridport.

Emergency services were called to Sea Road South this morning to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

The road was blocked while they dealt with the incident, which happened just before 10am this morning.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the pedestrian has since been taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

Traffic was at a standstill around the Esso roundabout and along the A35 this morning.

Residents of Crock Lane said the situation was a 'nightmare' as drivers tried to detour to avoid the traffic jams, instead blocking the lane.
