There are delays for motorists as long queues of traffic have formed in and around Bridport. 

At around 11.45am, traffic on the A35 coming into town was at a standstill from the Esso garage to the turn-off for Walditch at Firch Lane. 

Slow moving and heavy traffic has been reported along on Sea Road South, the town centre and on the A35 near Miles Cross and Eype.

Motorists in the area advised to prepare for long delays. 

One motorist, said: "Traffic going into Bridport has been completely still from the Esso garage to near the New Inn turn-off. It was not moving at all."

It has since been confirmed by police that a person was hit by a vehicle on Sea Road South just  before 10am.
