An academy in Bridport is appealing for former students and staff to share their memories, photographs and anecdotes as part of its upcoming milestone.

The Sir John Colfox Academy will be celebrating 25 years of teaching from the 'new' site in December 2025.

Opened officially by HRH Princess Anne on 14th December 1999, the current school replaced one of the first purpose-built comprehensive schools in the United Kingdom.

The 'old' Colfox School was established in 1956, replacing ‘Bridport Grammar School’, which was established in 1909.

Dorset made educational history when it became the first council to sign a Public Finance Initiative (PFI) contract to rebuild the school.

In the lead up to the 25th anniversary of the new site, former alumni have been invited to share their memories of the school over the years.

A spokesperson for Sir John Colfox Academy said: "Were you at Colfox during the rebuild and the opening of the new school? Did you meet Princess Anne?

"The Sir John Colfox Academy is keen to hear from any readers with memories of Colfox School over the years, particularly during the transition from the 'old' to the 'new' school in 1999."

People can send their memories and any photographs to the school using the email: colfoxmemories@colfox.dorset.sch.uk
