THERE I was this morning fiddling around for £1.50 to park in a disabled space in the Broad Street car park in Lyme Regis when a pleasant young man approached asking if everything was ok.
Yes, I said, just looking for the parking fee. How long are you staying? he asked.
'As long as it takes to have a haircut,' I replied.
With that he waved his phone at the cash machine, told me to collect the ticket and walked briskly away, saying “now you are good to go” and ignoring my offer of £1.50.
What a commendable young gent.
