Heavy rain is set to hit Dorset as a weather warning has been put in place.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the South West from 8am to midnight today, Monday, July 15.
Torrential downpours are likely in most places with 15 to 20mm of rain expected in less than an hour and as much as 30 to 40mm in three hours.
Some of the heavy rain may be accompanied by lightning.
Travel is expected to be impacted with journey times taking longer and there is a small risk that homes and businesses could be flooded.
There may also be some interruption to power supplies and other services.
A spokesperson for the Met office said: "Outbreaks of rain, some heavy and thundery, will spread steadily north across the area during Monday.
"The heavy rain will slowly ease after dark.
"Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.
"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
"People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
"Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
