Ahead of the general election on Thursday, July 4, the candidates for South and West Dorset have spoken to The Echo about why they should get your vote.
Each day, one candidate will be featured. Today's candidate is Oliver Chisholm.
Oliver Chisholm, Independent parliamentary candidate for West Dorset:
"I was born and educated in Sherborne and spent many years as a journalist.
"On my return to Sherborne I was elected to the Town Council and during that time organised many fundraising events most notably outdoor concerts that brought in tens of thousands of pounds for the dual use facility at The Gryphon School and the charity CLIC.
"Moving on to the District Council, I fought for fairer regional representation on committees, also proposed the amalgamation of District and County Councils, saving huge amounts of money and in addition lit the fuse that led to radical changes in small business rates.
"After retiring from politics, I was motivated to return by the appalling treatment of post office staff as highlighted in Mr Bates versus the Post Office.
"The arrogance of those in power and the failure of elected officials to protect the vulnerable are shocking."
